Anaesteticly Pleasing Shoes
This is the collection for her graduation from a design student, Gwendolyn Huskers, studying at the Design Acedemy in Eindhoven (the Netherlands). She presented a set of six shoes called ‘medic esthetic’. These shoes were aiming to reveal the taboos associated with physical deformities, her collection of cream and skin-toned footwear for women is made from medical materials and supplies such as plaster bandages, steel and band-aids. Remember me this collection from David Delfin... but anyway, I love them, the looks so fashionable ^_^

The eco Fashion Buzzines and Walter Raes
The "Eco-Fashion", like all the fashions and trends in this world, comes from an "event". For example, the film "Moulin Rouge" brings all this corsets to the high street stores, and the past Olympics Games in China the oriental style, the origami and the "Chinese essence shampoo"... and the eco-fashion was the result of the global warming. So now we have some designers trying to use rest of garment (before rubbish) and organic materials. But it this really going to change something? Nobody see that the problem is how fast the trends changes today, how the high street industry is changing their stock in their shops and producing mountains of rubbish. I personally vote for the second hand and with the money I economize I will buy few quality and designers garments. No to the High street, no to Primark, no to Heat and Look magazine... The only thing I would like to believe is in the Fair trade, but even that become a business and is ridiculous the money the ask for use their logo for the services they give.
After all of this I will like to show you the inspirational work of Walter Raes, one of this this artist who use the eco/recuperation in his designs. Is true that we always try to make wearable art - but Walter Raes does it ingeniusly.

Films You Must See Before You Die: Part 4
Sorry for didn't write so much and so often on the blog after this summer, I'm very busy with my last year in the uni... But I have a present; I'm very pleased for all the visits I have everyday (more than 200 per day), and all the letters I have from you. Today I'm going to leave you another chapter of "films you must see before you die"... They are more than great films, all of them are a genx love fest and they made me feel better than any movie I have ever seen.
Napoleon Dynamite
Persepolis
Sean Penn and Iggy Pop colaborate with the North American version of this French animated political drama Persepolis. The film is based on the comic Persepolis and Persepolis 2, Persepolis is an autobiographical novels by Iranian author Marjane Satrapi. Is about the strugle life of the iranian Marjane, who live in Iran during the Islamic Revolution at a time where women are forced to wear veils and people are living in fear of government persecution.
Is easy to be on the skin of this young girl when you se how she discovers music — particularly punk rock, ABBA, and Iron Maiden — as I did at the same age. And if you are one of those who need the experts to believe me, on 2007 this film won an Oscar for the best animeted film on 2007.
I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK
I’m A Cyborg, But That’s Ok is the latest film directed by Chan-Wook Park (The same director of Old Boy). This film will remember you film like Amelie, with this cheese history and with visuals that seemed like technicolor art. But also I loved this oriental influence from the manga when she transforms her self in a killer robot.
Personaly I prefered Old Boy but I founded this one completed. But I need to share with you this vals from the sountrack iIcannot stop listening again and again, (The Last Waltz - Old Boy) and the trailer:

Whether the polar ice caps melt or not, some of the world’s wealthiest people will remain stylishly afloat in their luxury yachts. a new crop of these floating vessels is emerging which employ the design skills of today’s top architects and designers. Whether it’s the philippe stark designed ‘a’ yacht owned by russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko for 250 millions euros or Norman Foster’s new signature yacht collection, many of today’s luxury yachts are going designer. stark and foster only only some of the traditional designers urning their focus to boats, others include architect john pawson, prosche design and lazzarini pickering architects. however the most unusual boat in this new category has to be ‘guilty’ a boat commissioned by greek billionaire dakis joannou. designed by architect ivana porfiri, the boat features a colourful pattern designed by contemporary artist jeff koons.

‘mommy’s chair’ table and chairs
Last year we featured london designer lucy merchant’s ‘endangered species’ collection of furnishings. Two of her other projects also caught our attention. her ‘mommy’s chair’ table and chairs collection is based on the sketching lines and warped perspective found in children’s drawings, it is really difficult to them for the first time and understand that they are real and not an design from a child. Absolutlly genious and subrealist!!
Another project is her ‘common series’ of gate and fence shaped radiators. after realizing the similarities between fences and radiators, merchant created this series. http://www.lucymerchant.comThe House of Viktor & Rolf at The Barbican Art Gallery

The New York Times recently made Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren the designers of the moment As guest bloggers the Dutch duo wrote of their recent project: a retrospective show, “The House of Viktor & Rolf,” which will be opening next week at the Barbican Art Gallery in London. 55 complete looks (including hair and makeup) from 15 past memorable seasons will be presented on custom-made life-size porcelain dolls. …[A] giant doll’s house that is at the heart of our exhibition at the Barbican. The doll’s house is nine meters high and designed in a U shape, wrapping around one of the large concrete pillars present in the gallery. It is at once inspired by the famous Dutch doll’s houses of the golden age, as well as English Victorian department-store architecture. When you enter the exhibition, a serpentine trail leads you past a display of works from the first years of our brand, up to the first couture collection. Then the visitor comes face to face with the giant doll’s house. Like its 17th-century Dutch counterparts, it is built on legs. It has three stories an can be viewed from different levels…With the couture dolls having grown to human size, this show is about surreal juxtapositions. The confrontation with the life-size dolls dwarfs the spectator, pulling them into the narrative and, as such, making them a part of the exhibition. “Every garment is like a couture garment,” Horsting says of the runway looks that were remade to fit the roughly 25-inch-tall models. “Everything was scaled down — the embroideries, the prints, all the accessories.”
Typically I find dolls a bit precious, but I anticipate that Viktor & Rolf’s presentations will hint ever so slightly at the macabre. There is something oxymoronic about this as an artistic gesture in general, since V&R have never really earnestly pursued the idea of woman as fragile and doll-like. I am excited to see what they produce! You can check out some of the dolls here..

September 06 Everybody Talking About Comme des Garçons for H&M
Were you wondering who would follow up Karl, Stella and Viktor & Rolf as H&M's next guest designer this fall? Now I'm working in H&M and wonder no more, today we had some info about who is gonig to be the next colaboration for H&M: REI KAWAKUBO!! All this after the mega chain opens its first store in Tokyo this November.
We think this is great, because we can't imagine another scenario in which we could afford anything designed by Rei, but we're also a little worried - the collection is supposed to include clothes for both men and women (obviously), accessories (fine), children's clothing (uh), and a perfume (oof). I just can't wait!!

For me a bible for designers.
The italian born designer francesca lanzavecchia graduated from the masters program at the design academy in eindhoven last spring. Her thesis project ‘pro aesthetics supports’ explored the perception of disability through its artefacts. In the project she redesigned common medical artefacts associated with disability such as neck braces, canes, crutches and back braces. She focused on making the artefacts expressive so that each one becomes a personal representation of their owner, while paying special attention to social stigma.

Liz Wolfe
I know I know.... another photographer? But this one is absolutly amazing!! Her name is Liz Wolfe and is a Canadian photographer, and she just has updated her site with her newest series which focuses on characters and confection. The photos are never what they first seem, revealing something a little more macabre on closer inspection: uuuhhhh a meat tree, a diseased dear, a melting icy pole dripping blood. It’s all presented in hyper-real candy colours. He work remember me the spanish photographer Chema Madoz and his visual games. Have a look!! ;)

July 04 I ♥ Felipe Oliveira Baptista
www.felipeoliveirabaptista.com/ July 03 Chinese Fashion Designer Qiu Hao
Qui Hao estudio en la famosa escuela de Saint Martins en Londres y ahora es una estrella en China, pero aun asi le esta costando introducir la alta costura en pais obsesionado por la produccion masiva.
Having studied at St.Martins in London, Qiu Hao is now at the forefront of Shanghainese fashion, but after all is is difficult for him to introduce the haute couture in a country obsessed with mass production.

Renowned photographer Patrick Demarchelier helped bring a unique twist to Pirelli’s sensual and artistic calendars by mixing east and west elements; one of which is inspired by origami! Beautifully set in Shanghai, along with some rising stars, Demarchelier’s ability to capture Oriental beauty along with some Italian flair makes for some pretty hot eye candy.

Fantastic Fabric Treatment
What I love about origami is that you can take a simple piece of anything and transform it into your vision. That’s exactly what Dutch designer Hannah Allijn was thinking when she dreamt up this beautiful window treatment. With classic horizontal, vertical and diagonal origami folds, the fabric pulls up into a geometic ball when you want to bring in some natural light in the room.
Origami is no doubt a magical craft and when applied with creative flair, you get Anne Kyyrö Quinn from the UK! Quinn also creates three-dimensional structures with textiles and transforms them into cushions, throws, table runners, wall panels or blinds. The work is very much an origami-inspired approach and here are some wall panels that are simply so beautifully handcrafted.
Love, Love, Love Jessica Preston’s designs. She is a textile designer from the UK challenging the limits of textile using origami power. Her fabrics are hand dyed, folded into repeated forms - aka unit origami! It is just so beautiful and stunning.

Christian Dior Haute Couture fall 2007
A great review at Time about the Christian Dior Haute Couture fall 2007 show in Paris designed by John Galliano - a line inspired by Madame Butterfly. Exquisite dresses that seamlessly blends classic origami folds in this beautiful collection.

Maybe it's the winter stubbornly nested in our bones, but we all seem to have simultaneously fallen into some hibernating state. Perhaps this spring-laden video by Björk will rouse us from our slumber and back into action. And if you haven't seen it, the wonderful Stereogum has put out a Tribute to Björk's Post, with songs by assorted indie artists. Worth checking out. Pattern Magic From Japan
and on the subject of making fashion, in the most fundamental sense…
pattern magic by nakamichi tomoko: This is a very recomended book in my fashion course, and had to score a copy. it’s japanese, but the illustrations and diagrams in the book are rather clear, so much information and inspiration may be gained. i am flatly, gushingly in love with the garments shown as examples in this book…so sculptural, so dimensional. clothing made with this kind of eye transcends merely being a covering for the body and crosses over into the realm of wearable art, in the most sophisticated of senses. this little book will long hold a place of reverence among my patternmaking and draping books, if for nothing else besides reminding me of the possibilities inherent in the design and process of clothesmaking, my chosen art/craft in this lifetime.
